Antis rely on fear.
Fear of being unjustly called a predator, fear of being harassed and doxxed, fear of having careers destroyed, fear of being suicide baited and threatened, fear of being blamed for abuse.
They have no power without these things. The people who do not agree are not being convinced; they are being cowed into submission by the portions of the movement willing to use violence, while the rest allow it.
If you call yourself an anti, any influence you have is riding on the fear of those among your ranks who harass and defame others. You cannot claim to be a “safe” anti; your chosen label makes you complicit.
You can hate a ship. You can be concerned about the social effects of media. You can believe that there needs to be safe spaces for people with specific needs in fandom, and discuss how to accomplish that. You can have a NOTP that you never want to see or hear talked about, ever.
But to call yourself an anti? Antis harass people. Even if you did not participate, you allowed that to fester in your community, and now it defines you to all outside of it.
