What a good day to remember that if someone ships something that seems fucked up to you, that doesn’t necessarily mean they are doing it because they believe it’s a good dynamic that should be imitated in real life and that only having ~pure~ ships doesn’t make you better than anyone else.

When antis say they are all for protecting minors, but send them hate and targets them when they ship something they don’t like
When antis say they care about survivors, but also tells them to “cope in private” or “find a healthier way”, despite what their therapist already told them
When antis directly ignore what the creators already said about how they don’t support harrassment of anyone over ships or fanart
When antis ignore canon and hate on shippers for actually following it
When antis create a new way to send someone suicide baiting without actually saying kys
When said way usually includes a fetish like “pee your pants” or “suck your toes”
When antis say someone deserves suicide baiting if they ship the wrong thing
When antis say “choke” is not suicide baiting
When antis try to prove that fiction is reality or affect it directly with a bunch of examples that don’t really prove their point or studies that have been debunked years ago
When antis pretend everyone else are the problem but them
When underage antis enter into 18+ spaces and pretend to make them child friendly
When antis are glad that they harrassed so much a shipper that they prefered to deactivate
When antis wave their US’s laws around to scare you but you are not even american
When antis fill the ship tag with their nonsense
When antis don’t realize that the more they openly hate on someone, they are more likely to get sympathy from the public (not to mention other shippers) than anything else
When antis say “everyone agrees with me”, but you know that outside of tumblr people really don’t give a crap about shipping

I think the reason I dislike anti-shippers so damn much is because they have the same argument as anti-video game people

and some of them are just literally identical like

They never really understand that humans have evolved to be incredibly good at understanding context, and the line between reality and fiction. Abuse in a story isn’t the same as abuse in real life. Shooting a 3d model with some code attached isn’t the same as shooting an actual breathing person. A 20 yo with a 17 yo isn’t the same as a 20 yo with a 12 yo. Reality isn’t fiction and normal functioning people understand that. It’s cool, we got this, we don’t need a chaperone or a censor.
Edit: this also 1000% applies to BDSM and CGL. Roleplaying rape/pedophilia/abuse or whatever the fuck else isn’t the same as the real thing and we know that
Lol when did shipping the hero with the villain become a bad thing. Shits been happening for so long. It’s an interesting dynamic, prime for angst and betrayal and tragedy, yknow, the kinda tropes people have loved for forever?
