Am I the only one who thinks Sal and Samekichi’s past is similar to Lucas and Claus’ past in Mother 3?

In Mother 3, Lucas gets so sad and depressed after his mother’s death, so Samekichi does. And Claus turns later into the major villain of the game in a plot twist way that hates himself(?), so does Sal.

I think that the Earthbound series might have inspired some of DSP works??
